Multi-Purpose Batch Mixers
Each Silverson Batch Mixer Model is designed with a special “interchangeable” rotor/stator mixing head, which allows it to be used on a wide variety of different products.
How it works
The beauty of the Silverson Multi-Purpose Batch Mixer lies within its heart – the special rotor/stator mixing head. The advantages of this mixing head design over simple conventional stirrers or agitators, stems from the multistage mixing/shearing action as materials are drawn through the workhead.
Stage 1
As the rotor blades rotate at high-speed within the precision-machined mixing workhead, liquid and solid materials are drawn upwards into the centre of the workhead by the powerful suction exerted.
Stage 2
Materials are then driven by centrifugal force towards the periphery of the workhead where they are milled into fine particles by the precision-machined clearance between the ends of the rotor blades and the inner wall of the stator.
Stage 3
Intense hydraulic shear occurs as the materials are forced, at high velocity, out through the perforations in the stator and circulated into the main body of the mix.
Stage 4
As the materials are expelled from the head at high speed towards the sides of the mixing vessel, fresh material is continually drawn through suction into the workhead to maintain the mixing cycle. By expelling sheared materials horizontally while fresh materials are drawn upwards into the head, a circulation pattern is established. This reduces aeration that is caused by the disturbance of the liquid’s surface.
Versatility
Any Silverson Multi-Purpose Batch Mixer from the 0.75kW BX to the 15kW GX20 can be used on a mobile floor stand.
Thereby greatly increasing the flexibility of these mixers, allowing them to be moved from vessel to vessel easily. In addition to being raised and lowered during operation, if required, to provide the ideal mixing position.

Constructed specifically to suit each customer’s requirements, the Silverson Large Scale Mixers possess all the qualities of the Multipurpose Batch Mixer.

The Silverson Ultramix is your ideal solution for rapidly wetting out powders, gums and thickeners. Intended for applications that do not require high shear, the capabilities of the Ultramix extend far beyond those of a conventional agitator or stirrer.
Featuring an innovative single-piece dynamic mixing head, designed for superior performance with minimal cleaning and maintenance.
