Zalkin, part of the ProMach group, is one of the leading specialists in bottle capping machines, offering the widest range of capping system solutions in the industry.
From rotary roll-on cappers running at up to 60,000 bottles per hour to single-head machines for smaller volumes, Zalkin equipment is in operation across food, beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and chemical production environments worldwide. Advanced Packaging Systems (APS) supplies and supports the Zalkin capping range in New Zealand.

Zalkin Oppti.Cap MH Rotary Capper
Rotary Bottle Capping Machines
The primary product in the Zalkin range is the rotary roll-on capper, designed to apply aluminium roll-on pilfer-proof (ROPP) caps to glass and metal bottles at high speed. These automatic capping machines handle throughputs of up to 60,000 bottles per hour (bph), making them suited to high-volume beverage, food, and pharmaceutical lines.
Caps are fed single-file via a chute and placed individually onto containers before Zalkin’s capping heads apply precisely controlled top and side pressure to form a reliable seal. Key technical specifications include:
- Pitch diameters of 300, 360, 480, 640, and 720 mm PCD, covering a wide range of rotary configurations
- Three to 24 capping heads per turret, configurable to output requirements
- Closure diameter compatibility from 18 mm to 38 mm, including short and long skirt caps
- Stainless steel construction as standard, with an ultraclean stainless option for food and beverage environments
- Tool-less capping head changeovers completed in under 20 seconds per head, minimising line downtime

Zalkin Automatic Roll-On Capper
Capping Head Technology
The capping head is the core functional component of any Zalkin system, engineered for precision, repeatability, and long service life. Each ROPP capping head incorporates a pressure block that centres and compresses the cap to form a tight seal, top load springs that compensate for bottle height variation (critical with glass containers), a side load spring that applies uniform lateral pressure for correct cap fit, a thread roller that creates the closure thread for opening and resealing, and a pilfer roller that forms the tamper-evident band at the lower edge of the cap.
Zalkin offers a comprehensive capping head programme extending well beyond ROPP. The range includes screw-on heads, push-in and snap-on heads, screw-on plus roll-on heads for TOPP aluminium closures, servo capping heads, and insert-and-close heads for pump and trigger spray closures. This means a single capper frame can be adapted to different closure types through head changes, protecting capital investment as product requirements evolve.
Cap Types and Capper Configurations
The Zalkin range covers the full breadth of closure types encountered across modern packaging lines:
- ROPP caps (roll-on pilfer-proof): aluminium closures applied to glass and metal bottles at up to 1,000 cpm using rotary roll-on technology
- Screw-on plastic caps: applied using pick and place technology at up to 1,000 cpm
- Push-in and snap-on caps: applied at up to 900 cpm across a wide range of cap geometries
- TOPP closures (screw-on plus roll-on): aluminium closures on glass bottles at up to 500 cpm
- Pump and trigger spray closures: applied at up to 300 cpm via the Insert + Close capper range
Within the capper product family, Zalkin also offers the Oppti.Cap range — modular rotary multi-head and single-head cappers designed for lines requiring flexibility and compact installation — and the FTM-300 range for large-format containers used in food, agriculture, and chemical applications.

Integrated Cap Handling Systems
A capping machine performs only as well as the cap supply feeding it. Zalkin designs and manufactures a complete range of cap handling equipment to ensure caps are consistently available, correctly oriented, and delivered at the throughput required by the capper.
The cap handling portfolio includes:
- Cap orienters and sorters, including the EcoTwin — a new orienting system that operates without air consumption, reducing energy costs and eliminating the pneumatic infrastructure that conventional cap sorters require
- Cap conveyors delivering caps reliably to rotary monobloc, freestanding, and single-head capping systems
- Cap elevators supplying a metered and controlled quantity of caps to rotary orienters at speeds of up to 2,000 cpm (120,000 cph)
- Automated bulk cap loading systems that remove manual cap loading from the operator’s workload, freeing them to focus on overall line performance
- Z-Skid cap handling solution, which integrates multiple cap handling components into a single skid for straightforward line installation and integration
All cap handling components are engineered to work together with Zalkin capping equipment, enabling a fully integrated system to be supplied and supported as a single solution.
